After ranting for a while about digital the other day, I thought I'd explore the opposite end of the spectrum and look at clockwork. Frankly, I love it!
clockwork is a beautiful science! some people say that electrons and stuff are beautiful science, but frankly they're just a few tiny specks orbiting a blob so whoever said that needs an eye test. there's something which has to be loved about the way that all the cogs nestle together and move in perfect synchronism (is that the right word? someone comment and tell me!). you know those clockwork robots in Doctor Who? I love them! I really want one, just so I can take it apart and stare at it...
for my sins I have never owned a proper clockwork watch. my Grandad has one, and I love listening to it tick. my favourite clockwork watch ever is my friend's watch with no back to it and a glass bit under the face so you can see how it works. I want one! it's a truly beautiful piece of jewellry! (I probably haven't spelled it right...jewellery? too many e's)
